How Graphic Design Matters–More Than Ever–In 2014 https://www.kkprodesign.com/how-graphic-design-matters-more-than-ever-in-2014/ Mon, 06 Jan 2014 02:53:37 +0000 https://www.kkprodesign.com/?p=2053 read more →]]> Forbes.com recently published this article on how Graphic Design Matters More Than Ever in 2014.

Several months ago, tongue in cheek, I made the case that graphic design no longer matters—that in today’s world, the words and content on websites means more for supporting SEO and overall online business strength.

graphic designAnd today, my great friend Randall Smith, founder of Salt Lake City brand management agency Modern 8, has given me reason to eat at least a few of my words. With degrees in both advertising and graphic design and a lengthy list of awards, Smith is a connoisseur of visual design (and he sports a wicked cool wardrobe).

Here’s what Smith had to say: Quoting New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a recent interview in the annual design issue of Fast Company magazine, he noted, “Design does matter. And not necessarily in a way that people realize.”

Bloomberg was referring to design on citywide scales, but according to Smith, the principle applies to individual business as well: “If good graphic design is doing its job, it is managing your perception of an experience in many ways—both obvious and not so obvious. How you feel, and therefore if whether you’re going to engage and buy, is directly influenced by the design of a website, a package or a business card.”

Smith agrees with the comment of Forbes contributor Mike Myatt: “Why present a content vs. design argument? The Holy Grail is found in nesting great content within brilliant design—don’t think ‘either/or,’ think ‘and’.”

Myatt continued, “Being found is…

Before you start designing a business card or picking colors for your letterhead, you need a logo. Featuring your company name and embellished with a little color and perhaps a few graphic touches here and there, your logo is the most important design element because it is the basis for all your other materials: stationery, packaging, promotional materials and signage.

“Through the use of color and graphics, your logo should reflect the overall image you want your company to convey,”

The “Missing Piece” to your Graphic Design Services and Printing Needs! https://www.kkprodesign.com/the-missing-piece-to-your-graphic-design-services-and-printing-needs/ Mon, 12 Aug 2013 21:37:37 +0000 https://www.kkprodesign.com/?p=1978 read more →]]>

Most businesses today need graphic design services to accomplish their marketing and creative objectives. Employing an internal graphic designer is often unrealistic for businesses since they don’t have the amount of work to warrant a full-time graphic designer.

Most times companies delegate design duties to an office administrator, or a “volunteering”employee. This approach usually sacrifices the quality of design and graphic design capabilities. By outsourcing to a professional graphic designer you are free to focus more on your core functions as a business knowing your projects are in professional hands.

When you find a graphic design company who is talented, highly skilled, and motivated they can really take your business to the next level. The best part is, you only pay for the time actually spent working on projects, and retain a fixed amount so you know what to expect. Typical services could include everything from brochure design, logo design, website design and marketing material production.

Outsourcing to a design professional will save you time and energy. They look after their own resources, and their personal problems don’t become yours. You don’t need to worry about ongoing training either. Outsourcing has become common practice for many businesses today. New businesses with little or no office space can benefit from outsourcing to a graphic design professional. Large businesses can also benefit by using an outside design company since they have a regular work load and desire agency standard design work.

The main reasons businesses outsource graphic design services is to save money and get a professional result. You don’t need to pay for your own equipment, training and insurance and you know you are getting a professional service – Headache FREE!

Graphic Design Professionals have the potential to save your business thousands of dollars in staffing costs. This is very cost effective because you only pay when they work. Since they are an external expense they are tax deductible. Business owners often expect to pay more for outsourced professional services than bringing on an employee to cover the required skills. This is often not the case when you take all expenses into account.

Working with an outside graphic designer is very similar to having a designer almost next to you. These days we communicate electronically no matter where the person is, usually by sending an email.

Communication is vital in any business relationship, as well as quality customer service. Find a professional that responds in a timely manner, even if the reply is to let you know they are very busy today, and will get back to you as soon as they can. You need to be kept informed, so make sure you’re getting the customer service you deserve.

Graphic Designers who work outside your business tend to think more creatively than an in-house designer might since they view things from an external perspective, they often work in an environment with other creative people.

An outside Graphic Designer is likely to thank you for sending more work when an in-house designer is likely to complain they are overloaded. Graphic Designers will understand the more they can help their clients the more they will use their services and the more referrals they will receive.

Your designer should be a trained design professional prepared to work as part of your team. Over time a strong working relationship can be built.

When shopping from design studio to design studio with each project your company produces you must consider the time you need to spend assessing the various suppliers and explaining your requirements. The time you invest into the designer will be useful from project to project as they learn more and more about your business. This also enables your Graphic Designer to make recommendations and see opportunities you may not have considered. They will become an external partner in your business success.

When working with an outside designer, you can even set them up with an email address associated with your business so any correspondence they send related to your business works in with your usual business practices seamlessly. This can help your employees identify with your Graphic Designer as a regular part of the team.

This how we SAVE you money on printing https://www.kkprodesign.com/this-how-we-save-you-money-on-printing/ Sun, 16 Jun 2013 19:46:46 +0000 https://www.kkprodesign.com/?p=641 read more →]]> Printing doesn’t have to be expensive. At KK Pro Design, we‘ve established a number of relationships with some of the best printers and distributors in the United States. Whether you are printing in quantities of one hundred or one million, we have the connections and expertise to save you a considerable amount on your printing expenses.

If you run a small business, I don’t need to tell you that every minute you (or your staff) spend getting quotes, and handling printing details is time you could have spent working on strategy, or customer service, or some other critical business function.

You don’t have the time to spend with different salespeople. You don’t have the time to research print production or electronic procurement.

That is where KK Pro Design can help!

It is our job to find the right suppliers to produce your work in the most timely and efficient manner possible; and then supervise those suppliers to make sure your job is delivered as ordered — all for less than what it would cost you to do it yourself. Imagine that!

Wouldn’t it be nice to have one source that offers a wide range of printed products so you could focus on other aspects of your work? The right broker can help by offering many printing services to suit your needs while eliminating the inefficiencies of dealing with multiple vendors.

So, how do you select the proper broker?

It should be a person that has plenty of experience in the industry. Someone who knows the printing and graphics business inside and out and is well connected in all areas of the Graphic Arts.

These days it is simply not enough to just know one particular area of the industry as the line between each area becomes fuzzier with each passing day. Litho, Digital, Screen, Large Format, Inkjet, Fabric, Large Run, Small Run-what’s the best way to go?

An Experienced Print Broker will:

1) Properly assess the specs of the project at hand.

2) Determine which process method of production will best fit the customer’s needs re: budget, timing, material etc.

3) Source the job through his network of first rate suppliers (a good broker will be well connected to a number of good suppliers in each of the areas mentioned above).

4) Present a range of different options to the client so the can make the correct production decision.

5) Become the Project Manager and take ownership of the project, keeping the client updated every step of the way. Only when the job is completed to the satisfaction of the client is the job finished.

The best Print Brokers are skilled negotiators who can bring a great deal of business to a good supplier. Suppliers also like the fact they are dealing with an experienced pro-hence they don’t have to manage the project and the client. Because of these factors, a good broker is usually able to negotiate better pricing for the client.

These are just a few reasons why it is in your best interests to enlist the service of KK Pro Design for you next graphics project.
